Legolas' arrows in the final battle are computer generated. It would have been physically impossible for even the most gifted archer to fire off so many arrows so quickly. Update: In the years after the film, multiple highly-skilled archers have demonstrated that even Legolas's fastest arrow-firing rate across the whole trilogy can be replicated in real life - and indeed improved upon. However this is only possible with the quiver hung from the hip instead of how Legolas wears it, on the back. Another strategy is to forego the quiver entirely, in favor of holding multiple arrows between the fingers of the draw hand.
