When Tadhg Murphy was cast as Arne, most of the production crew was unaware that Murphy was missing an eye and wore a prosthetic one. During the costume fitting Murphy asked director Johan Renck if he wanted Arne with or without an eye-patch. Renck asked what he meant and Murphy plucked out his prosthetic eye, which caused both Renck and show runner Michael Hirst to nearly faint. Murphy's disability was then worked into the scripts.
