In the scene where Shrek and Donkey meet Puss In Boots for the first time, when Puss is scratching up Shrek, he bursts from the center of Shrek's shirt and hisses. This is a direct reference to Alien (1979) when the xenomorph bursts from Kane's (Sir John Hurt's) chest in the famous dining scene.
