Vijayntimala was offered the role oposite Dilip Kumar, she refused as she had retired, then Nirupa Roy did it. This is the second tine this happened, the first time was Deewar, Nirupa Roy replaced Vjyntimala. Incidently both films were written by Salim-Javed and both films had Shashi Kapoor.
