Johnny Lovo like Don Corleone in "The Godfather" is based mainly or partly upon the urbane and "reasonable" Johnny Torrio, who brought Capone to Chicago from Brooklyn just as Lovo imported Camonte. Torrio was not shot dead at his protege's behest but retired from the rackets after being shot--some allege (and others dispute) by Capone.
