With this film, director Lokesh Kanagaraj debuts his cinematic universe by crossing over existing characters from his film Kaithi (2019). The last tamil film to do this was in Vai Raja Vai (2015), where Dhanush's Kokki Kumar character from Pudhu Pettai (2006) appeared.
