When Sybok's men are seen entering the gate to Paradise on Nimbus III, the gate is shown to have graffiti on it making it read "Paradise Lost". "Paradise Lost" is an epic poem written by the 17th-century English poet John Milton. The poem centers around the story of the Biblical Adam and Eve and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden. The same poem is frequently cited in Star Trek productions.
