The events in this movie occur after the events in Manhunter - Frammenti di un omicidio (1986), which was based on Thomas Harris' novel "Red Dragon". Although there are several characters common to both movies, there are only two actors who appear in both movies. Both play different characters. Frankie Faison played Lieutenant Fisk in Manhunter (1986), and Barney in this movie, and Dan Butler played an FBI fingerprint expert in Manhunter (1986), and an entomologist in this movie.
