(at around 2h 30 mins) When the American carrier group is sighted by the Japanese patrol boat the film cuts briefly away to a shot of multiple ships sailing in a formation. This is actually a shot of RIMPAC, the largest maritime military exercise in the world which is held every 2 years off the coast of Hawaii.
