During the 'Hakuna Matata' song, Pumbaa (Seth Rogen) has his solo which ends with "And I got down-hearted, every time that I farted". He subsequently voices his surprise that Timon did not cut him off. This is an in-joke to the same scene in the original Il Re Leone (1994), where Timon indeed silences Pumbaa before he can say the word 'farted', saying "Not in front of the kids!"
