In the previous films in the franchise, at least one of the killers would always have some form of connection to Sidney. However, in this film, the killers are fans of the Stab movie franchise with no connection to legacy characters Sidney, Dewey and Gale. Instead, they have a connection to main characters Sam and Tara.
