Early on in the series, there were disputes among Star Trek fans, as to which series at that time was superior, Star Trek (1966) or The Next Generation. Giudice di notte (1984) spoofed this in an episode where a group of Trekkers are brought before Judge Stone (Harry Anderson) for getting into a fist fight over this dispute. Brent Spiner, who played Lieutenant Commander Data, appeared in several episodes of Night Court as Bob Wheeler, the patriarch of a hillbilly family that kept getting hauled before Judge Stone for one wacky reason or another.
