Several times throughout the film the skyline of San Francisco is seen from the Drayton house. The skyline seen in the film had changed very little from the early 1930s, when the last skyscrapers went up in the city. Within the next few years of the film high-rise construction in the city would change the skyline drastically, leading to what urban planners called the "Manhattanization" of San Francisco, a term that describes a large amount of high-rise buildings built in a downtown section of a city.
