After the success of the first movie - it's the top-grossing musical in the U.S. to date - this movie was supposed to have three sequels. However, after Grease 2 (1982) bombed at the box-office, those plans were cancelled. In 2002, Didi Conn, Dame Olivia Newton-John, and John Travolta were all pushing to have a Grease 3 produced, which would focus on the original cast and characters many years later, in another decade, like the 1970s or the 1990s, but this movie never got beyond the planning stages.
