The premise of the show is an updated twist on "The Millionaire", a 1950s semi-anthology series that follows the unexpected, often less than happy results of individuals who've been given a million dollars. Each story is a kind of fable that begins with the mistaken notion that the beneficiaries good fortune will enable all of their hopes, or solve all of their problems.
