Daily Planet editor-in chief Perry White was originally planned to be African American. The character model sheets dated 11/20/95, which were intended to be final, had an African American Perry White. The idea of an African American Perry White was shot down by DC and WB because they wanted the character to keep the same unified look as he did in the comics and the live-action TV show Lois & Clark - Le nuove avventure di Superman (1993) which was airing at the time.
