During production in 1999, Kate Mulgrew received a phone call on set from a young woman named Danielle Pierre, who claimed to be the actress's birth daughter, given up for adoption seventeen years earlier. Mulgrew realized Gaudette was her daughter due to their resemblance. Danielle Gaudette had never watched Star Trek, and works as a yoga instructor.
