Wil Wheaton sneaked on the set during filming of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) to meet his idol William Shatner and was deeply hurt and disappointed when Shatner was rude to him. Gene Roddenberry spoke to Shatner about Wheaton, and Shatner apologized to Wheaton by sending him a card which told Wheaton that he is a fine young actor and that would be honored to have him visit his Enterprise set any day.
