Carl Barks, whose comics were the main source of inspiration for the show, was said to have enjoyed the first season, which was largely based on his work (he received a story credit for the ten direct adaptations of his comics). He was less impressed with the later seasons, which featured characters that had been created specifically for the show, such as Bubba and Gizmoduck.
