Maisie is the first human character in the franchise who is a clone. Correction: Maisie is the only actual clone. The dinosaurs are genetically engineered. Though the terms are sometimes used interchangeably by the characters, a clone is an exact genetic duplicate. The dinosaurs were created using gene splicing because they didn't have a full DNA sequence.
