In the late 1980s, Dr. Seuss expressed interest to get his book "The Cat in the Hat" made into a movie. His choices for the role of the title character were Robin Williams, Steve Martin, John Candy or Eddie Murphy. By the time this movie got green lit, none of those actors (excluding Candy who died in 1994) were approached for the role.
