In the scene where Lois Lane is in Clark Kent's bedroom weeping on his bed after his death, the wallpaper mimics the wallpaper in Hogarth Hughes' bedroom in Il gigante di ferro (1999). This may be a tribute by Zack Snyder, since in Il gigante di ferro (1999), the giant wanted to be like Superman and do good deeds for Earth and its people. In the end of the movie, he sacrifices himself to save the town of Rockland, Maine from the nuclear warhead. In a similar way, Superman sacrifices his life to kill Doomsday, and save Earth.
