Most of the scenes were shot in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The two houses which the Martins had and the mother in law had are at the side of the Galleria Shopping centre which also appears in the movie a lot. Its frontage can also be seen at the start of the movie after the truck moves away with the Bounty advertising on it. The furniture place where Robert and Little Bob play around in the middle of the galleria is no longer there as that is now a Cafe Nero in part of that space. The pet shop where they buy a pet for Little Bobs birthday is Jollyes Pet Emporium in Crews Hill. The ice cream truck where they buy the ice creams isnt outside of it and its smaller inside than in the movie.
