David Bowie was offered the part of Max Zorin. He turned down the role, in favor of one in Labyrinth - Dove tutto è possibile (1986). Bowie later explained that he thought this movie's script was too "terrible" and "workmanlike" to spend much time working on, and he told the producers what he thought of it. He also said that his directness wasn't received very well by them. In 2003, he admitted that he didn't like the Bond movies, and hadn't seen one since the Connery era.
