Introduces the Tornado plane, Sonic's winged vessel. The '761' on the plane is another deep-cut reference from Jeff Fowler to the 1993 book Stay Sonic, written by Mike Pattenden. It contains a whole origins story for Sonic which takes from the original 'Sonic Bible' made by SEGA. The '761' itself actually refers to Sonic's top speed ever recorded, 761 miles per hour. There are also finishing gate graphics on the tail and underside of the plane, often found at the end of levels in older 16-bit Sonic games.
