In a scene early in the movie, Sir Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon) kneels before Pierre d'Alençon (Ben Affleck) and asks for his approval. Pierre d'Alençon, on the other hand, annoys Jean de Carrouges by saying "closer" to him. Matt Damon said that this scene was improvised and that Ben Affleck's line added at that moment was loved and put into the movie by director Ridley Scott.
