The depiction of Zach Braff's character working in a Vietnamese restaurant was from his own experience. Braff noted in a commentary track on one episode of the TV series "Scrubs" (2001) that he was working as a waiter in a French-Vietnamese restaurant when he auditioned for the leading part in that series.
