Lucy almost died twice while filming episodes of her shows, and in both cases, you can see footage of this. On I Love Lucy (1951), she started choking on one of the grapes that got stuck in her throat during season five, episode twenty-three, "Lucy's Italian Movie", and almost died. The crew members, who hadn't realized she was choking while they were filming it, had to assist her and pull the grape out. On this show, Lucy almost drowned during season one, episode eighteen, "Lucy and Viv Put in a Shower". Lucy got stuck while they were filming the shower flooding sequence and could not pull her head above breathing level. Vivian Vance, who finally noticed that she was struggling, had to pull her head up above breathing level, and saved her life, and all of it was on camera.
