While Warner Bros. Animation was producing Batman: The Animated Series, they were actively developing an animated series for Wonder Woman called Wonder Woman and the Star Riders. A fantasy series where the Star Riders used magic gems to control the elements of nature and fight the forces of evil, the idea was built around a toy line from Mattel. However, the advances for the toys were so low that the series was scrapped with only a mini-comic for Kellogg's Cinnamon Mini Buns cereal having reached the general public. The character designs were subsequently recycled for Saban's Tenko and the Guardians of the Magic.
