Martin Kove and William Zabka both made brief cameos in Karate Kid II - La storia continua... (1986), in which a furious Kreese beats up Johnny following his defeat at the karate tournament, Mr. Miyagi comes to Johnny's defense and Kreese gets immobilized by Miyagi. The film was William Zabka's 2nd and final appearance in the films as Johnny; he later returned to the role on the YouTube Red series Cobra Kai (2018), which is a direct sequel to the films. However, Kove would return for Karate Kid III - La sfida finale (1989) and his cameo in the 2nd film set the stage for the 3rd film, in which Kreese seeks revenge on Daniel and Mr. Miyagi. Kove also reprises his role as Kreese in the Cobra Kai (2018) series.
