Andy Serkis's "Fall of Smeagol" prosthetic make-up (the final stage before the CGI Gollum) took five hours to apply. The same length of time it took for Arnold Schwarzenegger's damaged terminator make-up application in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991).
