In the early 1980s, French director Louis Malle was preparing a film of the Abscam story called "Moon Over Miami", from a script Malle had written with John Guare. Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi were set to star, with Belushi playing a con man and Aykroyd playing an FBI agent. Belushi's death in March 1982 scuttled plans for the film.
