As mentioned elsewhere, there is a shot of Alice's eye close up near the end of the film. In this and the next two films in the series (Resident Evil: Extinction and Resident Evil: Apocalypse), the motif is also repeated at or near the beginning of the films. The films also repeat the image of the opening in this film, in that Alice is shown basically nude immediately after the close-up of her eye. Again, these are direct references to the first game in the series; Resident Evil (1996), since the close-up eye shot is used for the logo of the game.
