The Chili Palmer character of the 1995 Metro Goldwyn Mayer movie Get Shorty (based on the novel of the same name) and it's sequel Be Cool (2005) is loosely based on Los Angeles mob boss Stan Atkins "The Beverly Hills Bookie".
