According to the American Film Institute's AFI Catalog, ''the final film included a 'softer seduction scene' between Mr. Jones [Richard Gere] and Libbie [Lena Olin] but removed an argument between the couple after Libbie ends their relationship. The original reconciliation scene took place on a seaside bluff, but was replaced by a rooftop scene shot both by [Mike] Figgis in late 1992 and [Jon] Amiel in summer 1993. Figgis's shorter version was the one used in the final film.''
