Season six was already in production when Lucasfilm's intellectual properties were purchased by Disney, who then cancelled the show. Thirteen episodes were planned, and four were partially completed (rendered in animatic form, along with with pre-recordings from the voice actors). These episodes eventually resumed, and aired on Netflix in 2014. Unresolved storylines will continue in a project called The Clone Wars Legacy, which is comprised of novels and comic books. In 2020 it was announced that season 7 would premiere on Disney+.
