Angie Watts was originally due to be played by Jean Fennell. Publicity photos for the Radio Times magazine were taken of her alongside Leslie Grantham (Den Watts) and Letitia Dean (Sharon Watts). However she was sacked before the first episode was filmed because producers decided that she looked too elegant for the role and because she tried to change the character of Angie instead of playing her as directed. At the last minute, after Jean Fennell was sacked, the role of Angie was offered to Anita Dobson.
