In a 2006 AP interview with Ben Nuckols, Guillermo del Toro said that his movie, Il labirinto del fauno (2006), was deeply influenced by the Narnia books by C.S. Lewis, and that, in fact, he had turned down an offer to direct Le cronache di Narnia - Il leone, la strega e l'armadio (2005). In 1954, the author of Nightmare Alley's source novel, William Lindsay Gresham, divorced his third wife, Joy Davidman Gresham. She later went on to marry C.S. Lewis.
