Just prior to the picture's premiere theatrical release in 1989, as reported in the 29th October 2006 edition of 'West Magazine', the film's title was briefly changed to "The Bartender" by Jeffrey Katzenberg, the Walt Disney Studios CEO at the time, and then changed back to "Cocktail" before it opened wide in theaters.
