The opening titles seem to be this to Snyder's own Dawn of the Dead remake, featuring footage of the outbreak occurring (as per Dawn's opening titles), combined with a Richard Cheese cover (Cheese's take on Disturbed's "Down with the Sickness" being used in one of the signature scenes of Dawn).
