A montage of jitterbugging couples is shown before the opening credits. Diane explains to Adam's mother Coco at the dinner party that winning a jitterbug contest is what got her into acting. Coco is played by Ann Miller, a tap dancing star from the bygone era of MGM musicals. All of which suggests how unsuited Diane is to a present day film acting career.
