Early in the film, the child Nancy wakes everyone up screaming that she's seen a monster. The counselor comforts her, assuring her she just had a bad dream. "Nancy" is also the name of the main protagonist in the original Nightmare on Elm Street film. This scene was likely a nod to the other massive horror series of the time.
