Anurag Kashyap was the writer of the film "Kaun". His fondness for Anil Kapoor could be seen in the film . Manoj Bajpai's character makes references to Anil Kapoor in the film. In one scene Manoj Bajpai states " Mere maa kehti hain,main Anil Kapoor ke jaisa lagtha hoon". In another scene Manoj states " Zara iske jhoote ko dekhiye, jaisa Anil Kapoor ke jhoote chori kar ke aaya ho". 20 years later Anurag Kashyap worked with Anil Kapoor in "A.K.vs A.K." and they both had a scene in the film where they insult each other's shoes.
