Over 75,000 British and Commonwealth (predominantly Canadian) troops and 57,000 American troops came ashore on D-Day supported by some 24,000 airborne troops. Nearly 11,600 aircraft participated (half from the RAF and half from the US, Poland, France, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Norway and other allied nations). Over 6,900 naval vessels were involved (4,100 from the UK and 2,800 from other allies) crewed by nearly 196,00 naval personnel (nearly 138,000 from the UK and 58,000 from other nations).
