In the early 2000s, when game shows like "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" were so popular that other game shows raised their prize budgets, Wheel was no exception. The highest prize in the final round was raised to $100,000 (and for a short time, there was the chance to win a million dollars as well) and the amount the final spin landed on was initially doubled (except for the $5000 space), but that was later changed to adding $1000 to the amount it landed on, including the $5000 space (making the consonants in that puzzle worth anywhere from $1300 to $6000 each).
