In the book, the unmasked face of the Grand High Witch is described as crumpled, decaying, and shriveled, with her mouth and cheeks being cankered and worm-eaten, and serpent like eyes. In the film, the face of the Grand High Witch is mostly seen with only a few blemishes, a blistered scalp, and is considerably less gruesome. However, as she pulls off her wig, she can clearly be seen pulling a worm out of her scalp and eating it. Furthermore, while looking in a mirror, she appears to be using some enchantment to conceal her real face, which briefly shows as horribly decayed and riddled with holes.
