Colm Meaney (Jerry Lynch) and Ruth McCabe (the "sporty" cougar) played husband and wife in The Snapper (1993) Colm Meaney and Ger Ryan (Maura) starred in The Commitments (1991) & The Van (1996) all three movies were adaptations of Roddy Doyle's Barrytown comedy trilogy set in Dublin. Ger Ryan played Neilà Conroy 's (Helen) mother in the tv mini series Family (1994) also an adaptation of another Roddy Doyle series. None of their characters interact in this movie.
