Screenwriter Matt Holloway is a fan of Downton Abbey (2010), and jokingly said that Jim Carter (who played the butler Mr. Carson on the show) should voice Cogman. He was shocked when Executive Producer and Director Michael Bay got Carter signed on as Cogman.
