The character of Liet Kynes, portrayed by Sharon Duncan-Brewster, has been gender-swapped from the books. He was previously portrayed by Max von Sydow in Dune (1984) and by Karel Dobrý (as Dr. Pardot Kynes/Liet) in the mini-series Dune - Il destino dell'universo (2000).
