Vinod Khanna was the original choice for Shatrughan Sinha's role. When people saw the end product,everyone agreed that Shatrughan was a better choice. The script required Hema Malini to reject Shatrughan Sinha and end up with Amitabh. Had Vinod Khanna played the role, the situation would come across to unbelievable, due to his handsome looks. This was the reason why Vinod was not signed for Dostana.
